HISTORY
The History Section is designed to document the contemporary glass movement through articles, mailer and other documents Habatat has collected through the years. Material is added on a regular basis.

1971

*Habatat Galleries opens 1st gallery in Dearborn, MI as a multi-media fine art gallery. Started by Thomas Boone, Ferdnand Hampson and Linda Boone.
*Chihuly founded Pilchuck Glass Center in Washington State



1972


1973
*Habatat Galleries begins regular exhibitions of Joel Philip Myers, Richard Ritter, Mark Peiser, Harvey Littleton, Dale Chihuly & David Huchthausen.
*1st Annual National Glass Invitational featuring 12 artists.



1974



1977
*Habatat hosts largest contemporary american glass paperweight exhibition ever held.



1978
*Glass works being sold between $25 - $1,500 at Habatat's 6th Annual National in Dearborn, MI.



1979




1980
*Habatat Galleries moves from Dearborn, MI to Lathrup Village, MI and begins to show artists who work in glass, exclusively.



1981
*Klaus Moje's 1st one-man exhibition in the US is held at Habatat Galleries.
*Kyohei Fujita's 1st one-man exhibition in the US is held at Habatat Galleries.



1982
*Pavel Hlava's 1st one-man exhibition in the US is held at Habatat Galleries.
*April's now Michigan Glass Month announced by Govenor Milliken at 10th Annual National Glass Exhibition in April after encouragement by Habatat Galleries.
*Around 2000 artists working in glass in the US.



1983
*Habatat Galleries opens 2nd glass gallery in Bal Harbor Island, FL. Thomas and Linda Boone transfer to Florida to run Miami gallery.



1984
*Stanislav Libensky & Jaroslava Brychtova hold their 1st one-man exhibition in the US at Habatat Galleries, MI. They also participate in Czechoslovakia Contemporary Glass Exhibition at Habatat Galleries, FL.



1985





1986
*Habatat Galleries was in the Inaugural and In-subsequent Chicago International New Art Form Exposition, Chicago, IL.
*Stanislav Libensky & Jaroslava Brychtova hold their 2st one-man exhibition in the US at Habatat Galleries, FL.



1987
*Habatat Galleries opens 3rd gallery in Chicago, IL
*December '86 in Florida and April '87 in MI change the Annual National Exhibition to an International Exhibition. Included in the exhibition are artists such as: Stanislav Libensky & Jaroslava Brychtova, Zolton Bohus, Kyohei Fujita, Ulrica Hydman-Vallian, Bertil Vallien, Klaus Moje and Yan Zoritchak.



1988
*Yan Zoritchak holds 1st one-man exhibition at Habatat Galleries, MI.
*Thomas and Linda Boone of Habatat Galleries, FL conceptualize and co-develop the Boca Raton Gallery Center.
*Bohumil Elias holds 1st one-man exhibition in the US at Habatat Galleries, FL.



1989
*Habatat Galleries, IL moves to larger quarters on Chicago's Superior St.
*Habatat Galleries, MI moves from Lathrup Village to Triatria Complex in Farmington Hills, MI.
*Habatat Galleries, IL gallery destroyed by fire along with 8 other galleries.
*Antoine & Etienne Leperlier hold their 1st one-man exhibition in the US at Habatat Galleries, MI.
*Czeslaw Zuber holds his 1st one-man exhibition in the US at Habatat Galleries, MI.

Lucio Bubacco holds his 1st one-man exhibition in the US at Habatat Galleries, MI.



1993
Habatat Galleries opens Aspen Colorado gallery in Wheeler Opera House.



1994
Habatat Galleries, MI establishes an Arts & Entertainment Complex in Pontiac, MI and moves gallery into the new complex.



1995
Habatat Galleries curates a International Glass Exhibition for the Hsinchu Cultural Center in Taiwan.




1996
Habatat Galleries reopens Illinois gallery on Chicago's West Superior St.



1997




1998
Habatat Galleries opens Great Barrington, MA gallery.



2000



2001
Linda Boone and Ferdinand Hampson received visionary awards by the American Craft Museum, New York.
*Habatat Galleries celebrates 30 years



2002




2004
The Habatat - Florida gallery was completely renovated and updated adding an additional 2000 sq. ft. of show space.



2006
Habatat closes seasonal Berkshire gallery after 8 years in business. 



2006-07
Lindsey and Jay Scott leave Habatat Florida to open new location in Tysons Corner, VA
