Shayna Leib

Shayna Leib received her Bachelors of Art degree in Philosophy at the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. She also studied literature, glassblowing and classical piano during this time period. Shayna went on to study metal and glass and pursue a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison which she received in 2003. After graduating, Shayna worked at Pearson Design Studios as a metal fabricator and forger and then started teaching drawing and sculpture in 2004 at Cal Poly State University. From there she taught glass at the University of Madison-Wisconsin in 2005. She’s also studied at at Penland Glass School with Che Rhodes and at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts with Boyd Sugiki. Shayna as also worked closely with Donald Friedlich, a renown metalsmith making the glass parts for his designs.

Shayna Leib has received numerous awards and honors including the American Style Award by Wendy Rosen in 2008 and in publications such as the book Contemporary Lampworking, The Best of American Glass Artists Volume L-Z, and A História Do Video (A History of Glass).

Much of Shayna’s inspiration comes from growing up on the Central Coast of California. She became a diver and underwater photographer in 2009.
