Martin Blank earned a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 1984. He began his professional career creating with Dale Chihuly and became an integral part of his glass blowing team before opening his own studio.

Renown for this monumental commissions, Martin completed a remarkable installation for the Tacoma Museum of Glass titled “Fluent Steps.” Consisting of 754 individually hand-sculpted pieces of glass, “Fluent Steps” spans the length of its 210 foot long main plaza reflecting pool and rises from the water level to fifteen feet in height. Inspired by the emotive nature of water, this ambitious endeavor by Martin Blank is a visual statement of the artist’s creative vision and talent. His resume reflects an impressive amount of honors, awards, public commissions and museum collections.
